Serving God's People in Africa since 1868

Advocate for Africa

Since its foundation in 1868 by Cardinal Charles Lavigerie, the Society of the Missionaries of Africa (formerly known as the White Fathers) has tirelessly worked throughout the vast African continent implanting the Gospel, providing relief, and aiding the development of men, women and children. The Missionaries have always been concerned with the well-being and integrity of African people. For 150 years, the Missionaries have been reaching out to the African people – to preach, teach, heal and build. Yet because changes in many areas have been very slow and difficult, many of these people are still being torn apart by conflict, hunger and despair. African people are deprived of their resources and tortured by undemocratic regimes all the African continent. Today there are over 1,500 men serving as Missionaries of Africa in 23 countries throughout the African continent.
