Youth Alive Education
| FACT: |
One of the major contributors to the spread of HIV / AIDS is ignorance, making
"educators" key to controlling the spread of the epidemic. Aggressive
educational and prevention programs have decreased the rates of HIV infections
in countries where they have been
implemented. |

Knowing how important "education" is in the prevention of AIDS, the
Missionaries of Africa have awarded grants to groups such as the one
headed by Patric Ogen. Over the nine years since the creation of the youth alive
club in Mbarara, Uganda, the
members of the Y.A.M. have displayed outstanding
commitment and enthusiasm in their role as educators. Here is what they have
been able to achieve:
- Eight "Peer Education Workshops"
- They have conducted four "Music, Drama and Poetry Festivals".
- They have organized 50 "Behavioral Change Seminars".
- They have conducted "Life Skills Programs" in 20 primary schools and 12
secondary schools.
- They have produced 40 video shows screened in schools and communities.
| SUGGESTION: |
Would you be ready to consider a
contribution to those young, dedicated, and talented teenagers, young men
and women, so they can reach out and touch the lives of so many more of their
peers, in view of effecting behavioral changes in their
lives. |
